Ninth Biennial Satellite Meeting of the ISN on Myelin Biology
Dedicated to the memory of Steven Pfeiffer
August 19 to 23, 2009
Gyeongju, S. Korea
This satellite meeting of the International Society for Neurochemistry will focus on recent advancement of CNS and PNS myelin biology, including the development of myelin-forming cells, myelin formation and function, and glia-axon interaction in normal as well as disease conditions. The research area of myelin biology has exploded in the past ten years. In particular, studies on glia-axon signaling have shown the importance of this intercellular communication in normal development and in neurological as well as psychiatric diseases. Many of these issues will be discussed at this meeting.
This myelin meeting has been holding as a satellite for all ISN meetings since 1991, and has always contributed to advance the research in this field. At this time, the meeting will be held in Gyeongju, Korea (http://www.gyeongju.go.kr/eng/main/index.asp), which is an old Capital near Busan, and this historic area is selected as one of the World Heritages. The program will be developed from the submitted abstracts, and will incorporate a combination of oral and poster sessions, with substantial time for informal discussions.
